What I learned from visiting the Titleist Performance Institute Headquarters
How PGA and LIV professionals train
I recently went to Oceanside, California to visit the TPI Headquarters to learn from the leading educators, teaching professionals and medical providers for the best golfers in the world.
One of my long standing goals has been to expand my knowledge on what it takes to play golf at the optimal level and to do it over decades without having major setbacks from injury. So, I attended the TPI medical level 3 seminar to keep exploring how to treat, rehab, and train golfers to become more efficient with their body mechanics and prevent injury from hindering their performance on the course.
Here are the key lessons:
- Assessment is the key to finding the root cause of your pain
- Tour professionals truly take their game more serious than the average golfer (Obvious)
- To become the best you have to have the best team around you. Coaches, medical professionals, fitness trainers, and a support system of friends and family.
How do we translate this to the average weekend golfers game?
My mission at SGI is to help golfers grow through education and have a place for them to train and rehab injuries to become better all around athletes. More importantly, I want to help mentor young golfers and struggling amateurs by helping them train their mindset to be noble characters that grow the game by expanding the southern culture and heritage to the course.
What exactly is the southern culture I want to help expand?
One thing we value is making people feel welcome. We invite people into our homes, into our golf group and value the intimacy of not just being golf buddies but helping each other grow spiritually and learning how to not be self centered. Everyone knows the type of country club or golf course that has no soul. The camaraderie is dead, no one greets you at the door, drama drowns out the relationships, people don't take interest in you and you're well being, and ultimately have a lack of drive to expand their community. Everyone knows a culture like this and it is hard to thrive and grow in this culture.
That is where the Southern Golf Institute separates itself. We focus on community and strive to make the golf culture more welcoming and not have our nose in the air. We help men learn how to become leaders and servants for the greater good of their community.
If you have not visited my clinic and are in the North Louisiana area, feel free to book a discovery call or drop your email below to chat on how we can get you on a program that will help sustain your body and give you the tools to be a stronger athlete on the course.
